What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injections that contain Hyaluronic Acid (HA), this is a naturally occurring sugar in the body. It has many functions, one of which is to ‘plump’ an area in the skin. HA is ‘water loving’ which helps the HA to perform the plumping action. This occurs by the body rapidly attracting the spare water to plump up the area that has been targeted.
Dermal fillers can be used to treat corns. The filler is injected underneath the corn to take the pain away and provide padding to this area to prevent the corn from returning.
Some benefits of dermal fillers include:
● Long-lasting results
● Provides pain relief
● Increased mobility
● Improves patient well-being
A local anaesthetic is given so that no pain is experienced when the fillers are being introduced. Treatment can be from 30 minutes to 1 hour. The treatment will last for approximately 6-12 months, top up treatments are advised and may be necessary.
